Improving your home’s energy efficiency can help reduce energy use, lower utility bills, improve comfort, and increase the balue of your home. Hibbing Public Utilities wants to help residential customers identify opportunities to make their homes more energy efficient. 

Through a partnership with prontier Energy, HPU offers free home energy audits to residential customers. 

What Is an Energy Audit?

A home energy audit is a comprehensive evaluation of your home’s energy use and efficiency. A Frontier Energy Efficiency Expert will visit your home to identify areas where energy may be wasted and provide recommendations for improvements. 

During the audit, the energy expert may:

  • Perform a basic analysis of your utility bills
  • Discuss specific energy concerns you may have
  • Conduct a comprehensive whole-house inspection
  • Use a thermographic ifrared camera to inspect the building envelope and steam equipment
  • Analyze insulation levels throughout the home
  • Identify air leads and opportunities to reduce conditioned air loss
  • Examine the age, efficiency, and general condition of mechanical systems
  • Identify and discuss energy efficiency opportunities
  • Provide a report summarizing the recommendations discussed during the visit

Home energy audits are available at no cost to HPU residential customers. 

To request an energy audit, complete the application and submit to HPU office staff at the HPU admin building or by emailing the completed form to info@hpuc.com.
