Hibbing Water Main Capital Improvement Plan
Project Status: Project Bidding
Existing Infrastructure: 1920’s installed cast iron water main & 20 known lead service lines.
Qualifying Factors: This project was selected due to the high concentration of lead service lines at these blocks. The water main serving these blocks are additionally expected to be more than a century old.
Scope of Work: Direct replacement of ~1,600 Linear Feet of water main with modern HPDE water main and replacement of ~45 service lines.
Cost: Preliminary Engineering Estimate of $3.5 million
Weekly Project Updates
The project is currently in the bidding phase. The Hibbing Public Utilities Commission is expected to determine final project scope and timeline in July.
