HPU has undertaken an extensive Vegetation Management project for the year of 2024. Vegetation Management is general line maintenance that keeps the power lines clear from encroaching tree growth and the wildlife that comes with it (pesky squirrels). This work is an important tool in preventing outages, with it HPU hopes to increase grid reliability. The scope of work on this project includes 12.26 miles of lines to be cleared with a specific focus on back-of-lot lines. 

The Hibbing Public Utilities Commission accepted a public bid from Zielies Tree Service in November of 2023. Zielies has now started clearing line as part of this project. If your property is scheduled to be included in this project, Zielies will reach out as they progress.
